In 1795, a twenty-five-year-old Beethoven decided to publish his very first opus, a set of three piano trios, Op. 1, dedicated to Prince Carl von Lichnowsky. Michael, Margarita and Lissa will perform the second trio - Piano Trio No. 2 in G major, Op. 1, No. 2 Their second piece to be performed at this lunchtime recital is Three Irish Pieces by Alec Rowley. Mark Secker has mainly focussed on collaborative music-making in more recent times but will present a solo programme in this, his retirement year, including a work he first performed on the NCMA stage in 1981, just prior to joining the staff of the Nelson School of Music.
