NCMA Foundation

Keep the music playing

Welcome to the NCMA Foundation

NCMA, formerly Nelson School of Music, has been delivering musical experiences to local, national and international visitors for 130 years. We want to continue this for another 130 years!

Reducing our reliance on contestable funding

The NCMA Foundation was established in 2023 to reduce our reliance on contestable charitable funding and protect our financial independence and sustainability. We want NCMA to be financially independent and sustainable. To keep the music alive in our beautiful, new, state-of-the-art building, the Foundation has set an aspirational target of $10 million by 2030. It’s a huge goal but with your help, we believe we can do it.

Your donation's impact

Your gift will enable NCMA to continue fulfilling its mission of “Music for Everyone”.

Preserving our history

It will preserve NCMA’s 130-year history and ensure its financial future is secure. With your help, we can celebrate another 130 years!

Enriching our community

When you give, you become a part of something bigger than just a building. You’re playing a vital role in preserving our history, enriching our present and building our future. You become part of our community.

How it works

The NCMA Foundation is a registered charitable trust which will operate alongside, but independently of the Nelson School of Music Trust Board. It will work closely with NBS, our bankers, and Craigs Investment Partners to ensure funds are safely managed and wisely invested.

The Foundation is structured around a Preserved Capital Fund designed to grow rapidly and perpetually. Distributions around that fund will be limited to interest earned after inflation, ensuring the intial investment is maintained.

Additionally, there are four Individual Donor Funds designed to provide practical support for specific activities:

  • The Cowie Bryant Fund for Education
  • The Kerr Hossain Fund for Community Well-Being
  • The Pastorius Waller Fund for Infrastructure
  • The Nelson Pine Industries Fund for Performance and Events

Your donation will contribute to both the Preserved Capital Fund and your choice of one of the four Individual Donor Funds.

NCMA would be very grateful for your support.

Please don’t hesitate to contact Jessica St Germain, our friendly Funding & Development Manager who will discuss donation options with you. Please note that donations over $1000 need to be made in person.
