What you need to know

Everything you need to know about coming to an event at NCMA

Cancellation

Cancelling tickets and requesting a refund is generally not available, (unless the event has been postponed or cancelled by the promoter or NCMA).

If a show is postponed or cancelled, ticket holders will be contacted. This is one reason why we require two forms of contact (preferably email and phone) during the ticket purchase process.

Postponement: tickets will be valid for the new date. If the new date does not suit, ticket holders will be entitled to a full refund.

Cancellation: ticket holders are entitled to a full refund.

Seating

The Nelson Centre of Musical Arts has one main theatre (the NSOM Auditorium), and one smaller performance space (the Pastorius Waller Recital Theatre).

Most shows have allocated seating, meaning you can choose your seat(s) at the time of purchase. Some shows are General Admission (GA) which means it’s first in, best seated. Come early for a GA show so you have a better chance of good seats.

Accessibility

There are two accessible car parks to the right of the main entrance to NCMA.

There are three wheelchair positions, located at either end of the front rows, with each being next to an auditorium seat for an accompanying person. These seats can only be booked through the Box Office.

There is one accessible toilet in the foyer.

There is elevator to access the Pastorius Waller Recital Theatre if required. The NSOM Auditorium is on the ground floor and is fully accessible.

Toilets

There are two gendered toilet blocks on the ground floor plus one accessible toilet.

There are 2 gender-neutral toilets located at the rear of the building.

Children

Children need a seat, even though they may end up on your lap. There is an exception for babes in arms (up to 1 year old).

On time

It is our aim to start each event on time. The time indicated on our website and your ticket is when the show commences, so please make sure you arrive at NCMA at least 15 minutes before this. Keep in mind that you will need to find a parking space, and may also wish to purchase from our bar before your event.  Bar purchases can be taken into the Auditorium.

Some shows have a lock out period, so if you are late you may not be let into the auditorium until there is an appropriate moment in the show.

Cameras/phones

In general, no photos or videos are allowed during shows, unless stated otherwise.

We kindly ask all audience members to switch off their phones and refrain from texting during a performance, as this disturbs other audience members. It can also be very distracting for performers.

There may occasionally be an authorised photographer at an event, who will photograph subtly and minimise any distraction.

Parking

You can find parking on the streets surrounding NCMA.

Please be aware of any parking time restrictions.

There are two accessible parks to the right of the NCMA front entrance.
