Trudi Wilson

Trudi started her singing career as a classical singer at NCMA 40 years ago and has since managed to forge a full-time career as a performer and teacher. She has toured with well-known bands, taken lead roles in musicals, and musically directed her own solo, duo, and band acts which perform at corporate functions, festivals, and concerts. Trudi has also been a full-time performer on a cruise ship and starred in her own theater show as a feature artist, while also musically directing. For the past 15 years, Trudi has been a full-time vocal and piano tutor at Nelson College for Girls, Nelson College, Garin College, and Waimea College.

Trudi is a huge believer in ‘loving the songs you sing’, and the idea of her lessons is to craft classical singing exercises around the songs of YOUR choice. Whether it is a pop song heard on the radio, a song from a musical, or just a song you have been in love with for a long time, Trudi will base the lessons on a series of classical exercises and then apply these techniques to a handcrafted song of your choice, to help achieve better sound, better range, better breathing, and all-around better technique. Trudi is also happy to teach singers who would like to accompany themselves.
