About Myles Payne

Myles has dedicated his career to education and music. After gaining a Bachelor of Music degree from The University of Birmingham, he studied viola with the wonderful, late Gwyn Williams of the CBSO. In his 20s, Myles ventured overseas to teach English in France, Italy, and Japan. However, his love for music drew him back to the field, and he obtained his postgraduate teaching qualification in 1996.

With over 25 years of experience in the classroom, Myles has taught at three schools, including Thomas Telford City Technology College in the UK, Newlands College in Wellington, and Nelson College for Girls, where he served as Head of Music for a decade. Alongside his teaching career, Myles is also an accomplished musician and is a member of the Nelson Symphony Orchestra.
