In 2017 she returned to studies graduating with PGDIP in Flute Performance in 2018. For her postgraduate diploma Anna took 2 years of flute and piccolo lessons with Bridget Douglas, the principal flute player in the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. A highlight from 2018 at University was becoming a finalist in the Body Harris Prize for best performance of a New Zealand composition at Victoria University playing the Anthony Ritchie Flute concerto! She also has performed various concertos with various orchestras including the Ibert Flute Concerto, Vivaldi Goldfinch Concerto and Chaminade Concertino. Anna is a dedicated, passionate, and experienced flute, piano, and recorder teacher with a decade of teaching experience. In her Wellington studio she was a popular music teacher with about 45 private music students. She also worked as a music teacher in several secondary schools and also for the Wellington Music Centre, teaching small group classes. Anna also ran a successful preschool music class.
Skills and expertise
Annas philosophy is to create a relaxed positive, kind and encouraging learning environment that caters to each student’s individual needs and goals. She hopes that music lessons may inspire a life long love of music along with technical proficiency on their instrument.
Anna has successfully prepared students for flute exams grades 1-8 on flute and grades 1-3 on piano. Her students all achieved excellent results. Anna likes to put on student concerts or performance opportunities to inspire children to enjoy performing in a supportive environment.
