For the first time, New Zealand music will be on the menu at the Adam Summer School. Alongside their pieces by Beethoven, Schubert and Elgar (among others) each student ensemble will spend the week working on a piece of music by a New Zealand composer. Even more exciting – some of these composers are Summer School alumni themselves!
A small selection of New Zealand pieces will be performed in the Finale Concerts on Sunday 15 February. But for those who want more than a taste, the Summer School students are presenting a free ‘Kiwi Hour’ lunchtime concert for all to enjoy on Friday 13 February.
Concert programme:
Estella Wallace Of Sorrows
Tabea Squire I danced, unseen
Ross Harris 4 Klezmer Tunes
Victoria Kelly Angel Wings
Claire Cowan Subtle Dances
Alfred Hill The Sacred Mountain
Mika Cornelius Frozen Blossoms
This concert is completely free to attend, and there’s no need to register ahead of time. Simply show up at Nelson Centre of Musical Arts on the day and check in at the Box Office to be shown to the correct room.
