Justin Ursua

Justin is a musician originally from the Philippines and currently based in Nelson. With over a decade of teaching experience, Justin has honed his craft as a mentor and educator, nurturing musical talent with passion and dedication.

His primary expertise lies in his prowess as a guitarist and a skilled music producer, and audio engineer. His versatility extends to drumming, allowing him to offer a comprehensive musical perspective to his students.

Throughout his career, Justin has been an active participant in various bands and projects, lending his talents as a session guitarist to several renowned artists. His rich and varied experiences within the industry provide invaluable insights into both live performance and studio production.

Justin’s musical journey includes formative experiences at the University of Santo Tomas – Conservatory of Music, where he gained extensive knowledge and expertise that continues to shape his approach to music education. Additionally, he holds an Associate Diploma of the London College of Music (ALCM), awarded through the London College of Music Examinations, reflecting his commitment to achieving excellence and proficiency in music.

Justin‘s teaching style involves assessing the student’s current abilities, tailoring lessons to enhance learning and foster enjoyable music playing. Some or all of the lessons encompass the following topics:

• Analysis – Understanding the dynamics within a song to improve playing ability.
• Theory – Covering music notations and other theoretical aspects.
• Technique – Building confidence in playing the instrument while enhancing tone and ergonomics.
