About Fleur Jackson
Originally from Nelson and from an active musical family, Fleur has been playing and performing from an early age. At 10 she began lessons with Nelson’s own Margarita Jackson, and in 2010 she completed a BA/MusB under the tutelage of Jan Tawroszewicz and has been teaching ever since. In Nelson she has been part of an eclectic mix of ensembles, ranging from an American folk duo to a Klezmer band and a classical string quartet. In 2016 she completed her BMus (First Class Hons) at Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music, and in 2018 her MMus in classical performance under Helene Pohl from the New Zealand String Quartet. She is currently a member of Trio Jackson, the NCMA Chamber Orchestra, and a regular Concertmaster for the Nelson Symphony Orchestra.
Skills and expertise
With over 15 years’ teaching experience, Fleur loves teaching all ages and abilities, and helping people on their musical pathways wherever they may lead. She has experience with both children and adults and firmly believes in making learning the violin a fun and positive experience. She has a particular interest in the Suzuki method and accompanying philosophy but does cater lessons to the individual needs of the student. She is happy to take students from age 4 upwards, from beginner to Grade 8.
