Cristián Huenuqueo Salazar

Cristián Huenuqueo Salazar completed an Honours degree in Classical Guitar in Chile before travelling to New Zealand to study at the New Zealand School of Music in 2016, where he earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Guitar Performance.
Cristián has participated in concerts, masterclasses, and competitions in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Thailand, and New Zealand. He has also been an active member of several guitar ensembles in both Chile and New Zealand, performing a wide range of chamber repertoire for guitar.
After working and teaching in secondary schools, Cristián pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Education. Over the past seven years, he has been teaching music across both the North and South Islands and has developed a strong understanding of the New Zealand education system.
Cristián has performed widely around the country and enjoys collaborating with other musicians, frequently playing in duos, trios, and quartets.

In addition to classical guitar, Cristián is a multi-instrumentalist, playing charango, zampoña, cajón, bass guitar, cuatro venezolano among others. His repertoire consistently includes music from South America, reflecting his cultural background and artistic passion.
