Nelson’s iconic 40-member choir Mosaic has been delighting audiences for 25 years with their high energy and vibrancy. Using only voice and drum as instruments, this acclaimed a cappella group will present a mini-WOMAD of music from around the world. including Europe, Africa and the Pacific.
As its name evokes, Mosaic will present a multi-coloured multi-layered, musical experience fashioned from sound-materials of different hues, tones, and textures. Moods range from the gentle and introspective songs of Sinead O’Connor, poems of Runi and chants from Japanese Buddhists to old-French drinking songs, ballads from Bob Dylan, and rousing, up-beat African songs. Mosaic offers a sample of songs imploring peace and unity, songs of celebration, and songs of everyday life from cultures across the globe.
