Midnight Swim’s five singers and accompanying guitarist have performed together in various musical groups throughout their lives. They formed a group in Nelson in March 2021 to sing songs they love in a folk style, with close harmonies and plenty of emotion. Inspired by music from various folk traditions, through to the 70s and 80s and artists of today, Midnight Swim love teasing the essence out of an original piece and weaving it through with new harmony and texture. Since forming, they’ve performed at Acoustic Routes events, fundraisers, the Cable Play festival, and open mics across Nelson.
This lunchtime concert will feature pieces written and performed by women, including Princess Te Rangi Pai, Christine McVie, Imogen Heap, and even one of our own singers, Susy Peddie. Lydia Stallard, Rachel Pemberton, Emily Wragg, Susy Peddie, Evie Rainey and Dunstan Blay are thrilled to bring you this beautiful programme at the end of November.
