Leaving a Bequest
A lasting way to support music in Nelson
Leaving a Bequest
You don’t need to be wealthy to leave a gift that will make a difference. Any size of gift will help to make music become more widely available to more people in our community. Once you have provided for your loved ones, please consider making a gift to secure the future of NCMA.
You can find out more about leaving a legacy to the NCMA in confidence, by contacting our Development and Funding Manager, Jessica St Germain on (03) 548 9477 or by email at [email protected].
If you’re thinking about including a gift to NCMA in your will, or have already done so, we’d welcome the chance to talk with you. This allows us to thank you, share how your gift can make a difference, and, if helpful, suggest wording that reflects your wishes while remaining practical for NCMA to use over time.

The 1% Club
Give a percentage of your estate
By choosing to leave just 1% of your estate to NCMA, you can help secure the future of music education and performance in Nelson. For many people, this is a manageable way to make a lasting difference. Of course, some people choose to leave a larger percentage, such as 5% or 10%, but any gift makes a difference.
Gifts that keep on giving
Invest a set amount through the Foundation
By leaving a set amount to NCMA in your will, your support can continue to make a difference long into the future. Bequests to NCMA can be invested through the NCMA Foundation, with the aim of generating ongoing returns that support music education and performance in Nelson year after year.

One Last Encore
Donate what remains of your estate
After you’ve provided for family and friends, you may choose to leave all or part of what remains of your estate to NCMA. This final gesture of kindness helps ensure that music education and performance continue to be part of life in Nelson for years to come.
The Ripple Effect
Other ways to leave a legacy
Simple choices, like donations in lieu of flowers, naming NCMA as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or KiwiSaver, or directing superannuation or pension benefits, can make a meaningful difference to the future of music in our community.

Many hands make light work
Small gifts can make a big difference
NCMA’s work is made possible by many people giving what they can, when they can. Whether it’s a one-off gift or regular support, every contribution helps keep music education and performance accessible in our community.
