About Laura Koleff

Laura’s love for music started at the age of 6, when she first began having lessons for piano. Her passion has only grown over the years and has led her to enjoy many avenues of music. Whilst a student at Waimea College, Laura received private tutoring off Lissa Cowie to expand her abilities on the cello, and continued after graduating. She was a part of the Waimea College Orchestra, playing cello in Thoroughly Modern Millie, and piano in Shrek the Musical. Her duo placed nationally in Smokefree Rockquest, opening up the opportunity to work with Chris Mac (Six60) and recording songs at Neil Finn’s Roundhead Studios. She went on to single handedly create a 5 track EP which has been listened to globally. Laura got the opportunity to work and collaborate with film composer Dr Ewan Clark, creating an original three piece movement which was performed by her chamber group.

Laura now enjoys working alongside Nelson Musical Theatre as a rehearsal pianist and playing in the shows they host. She loves seeing her students’ confidence and abilities grow, as she tutors them in cello, piano and guitar.
