About Glynn Matthew Olsen
Glynn attended Nelson School of Music in the late 80’s and in the early 90’s then went on to study at Christchurch Jazz School. He has also studied as an audio engineer, is a songwriter and has recorded and released his own recordings. Glynn has a great love for the blues and has played with various Christchurch bands: Black Cat Bone, Box of Blues, original band Jett & Scarecrow, to name a few. He has taught in schools in Christchurch and tutors on guitar – he is highly respected by his peers.
Since moving back to his home town, Nelson in 2003 he has played in The Brandy Creek Band & Originals Band Humankindness. Currently in Boogie Train, ‘The Lizard Kings Experience’ & The Acoustakatz. In 2018 he tutored guitar at NMIT.
As an exciting blues based stylist this stunning musician is humble about his talents merely saying that he “likes to play a little guitar…”
Skills and expertise
Glynn teaches a variety of guitar styles & genres. He pays particular attention to technique and emphasises the basic criteria needed for performance, as well as encouraging and inspiring creativity in all his students. Glynn is a firm believer in what you achieve has a lot to do with how committed you are to your passion.
