Description

Our free beginner saxophone classes are designed for primary and intermediate students. Led by experienced instructors, our classes offer a supportive learning environment to teach saxophone techniques, music theory, and repertoire building. No prior experience needed, and instruments are available for hire.

Students will cover:

• How to assemble the saxophone
• Breathing techniques and control
• Reading notation
• Improvisation
• Opportunity to play in a group

Initially, these lessons are offered for 2 weeks in groups of 1 or more students. However, your child can continue their saxophone education in one of our Dynamic Duo classes or SOLO lesson structures after that.

Please note: students need to be able to reach the keys and hold the weight of the saxophone. For younger children we recommend starting on the recorder (or jSax), which uses the same finger positions and then transitioning to the saxophone when old enough.

Students must be a member of NCMA before joining this class, and commitment to regular attendance is important so that the class can progress together.

Please talk to us about instrument hire as an option.
