About Hugh Morrison-Thomas

In recent years, Hugh has worked as a Speech and Drama teacher, Speech-language Therapist, and Audiologist across both education and health settings. Over the past four years, he taught Speech and Drama at Rangi Ruru Girls’ School in Christchurch, and prior to that at St Matthew’s Collegiate in Masterton. He has also served as a Theory Examiner for the New Zealand Speech Board. Currently, Hugh works as a Clinical Audiologist in Stoke and as a self-employed Speech-language Therapist.

Skills and expertise

In lessons, students’ learning focuses on improving functional communication skills. Hugh’s approach to teaching is holistic and structured to promote achievement, which in turn boosts students’ confidence in performing. He has developed a teaching curriculum that adheres to best practices and integrates learning across various topics, providing students with the best opportunity to enhance their performance skills. Students also have the option to sit examinations in Speech and Drama or Public Speaking through Speech NZ or Trinity College.
