Romance: Adam Summer Celebration
- This event has passed.

CANCELLED
We open with two movements from J.S. Bach’s mighty Art of the Fugue. Bach’s music was a great inspiration to so many subsequent composers, including Brahms, who based the first and last movements of his E Minor cello sonata on the themes from Bach’s Contrapuncti nos. 4 and 13. You’ll then re-hear these melodies in the inimitable sound of this beloved sonata, written soon after his arrival in Vienna. In this concert we introduce you to our wonderful soprano, Michaela Cadwgan, and conclude the programme with Schnittke’s masterful Piano Quintet, reflecting on the death of his mother, through stages of grief to acceptance and hope.

Compulsory Vaccination Certificates
As indicated by the Government, from December 3rd New Zealand will enter the new Traffic Light System and all Festival events will be subject to Compulsory Vaccination Certificates (called My Vaccine Pass) for all eligible people aged 12 and over.
We are working with our team, artists, NCMA (our venue) and suppliers to ensure we are ready to implement the My Vaccine Pass process and any other public health measures.
Under the COVID Protection Framework, Green and Orange settings enable the Festival to go ahead without capacity restrictions if the event uses My Vaccine Pass.
We know that this may have an impact on some people and their ability to attend. However, we hope that everyone will appreciate that this is the only way for us to comply with the regulations and deliver the festival to full houses. With everyone’s support, we can ensure that we keep each other safe while keeping the music alive for our audiences and musicians after what has been such a challenging time for all.
Find out more about My Vaccine Pass here.
Refunds
If the new regulations mean that you are no longer able to attend, we are happy to refund your ticket. Please notify us on (03) 548 9477 as soon as possible so we can process this for you.
Please note that you must not attend the Adam Summer Celebration if the following applies to you or any other members of your group.
- You are currently subject to a 14-day isolation period.

Please notify us if any of the above apply and we will provide a refund on your tickets.
Under the COVID Protection Framework Red
We are currently awaiting further guidelines from Government around the “Red Light” level requirements. If Nelson is in the “Red Light” Framework at the time of the festival, we will review the situation in consultation with the NCMA to decide if we can proceed with a reduced audience capacity.
Reduced Capacity
If we do decide to operate under reduced capacity due to pandemic alert levels, the following policy will apply:
- Entry will only be available to concert pass holders.
- If the number of pass holders exceeds the regulated social distancing capacity, seats will be offered to pass holders on a negotiated first purchased basis.
Final note
If the Festival needs to cancel an event due to COVID-19, we will refund your ticket(s) in full.
If the Festival reschedules an event due to COVID-19, we will contact you to see if you would like to transfer your ticket to the rescheduled Festival or you will be entitled to a full refund.
To be clear, we have an open door full refund policy on all tickets purchased for the Festival, so if at any time any purchaser feels unable to attend, we will issue a full refund – no questions asked.
We thank you for your patience as we navigate our way through this ever changing environment.
