Lunchtime Concert: Mary Ayre plays Beethoven, Schumann & Albeniz
- This event has passed.

Mary has performed frequently in Nelson as a chamber musician and has been a founding member of several ensembles.
The music performed in this concert is predominantly buoyant and untroubled.
Contrast comes from the different styles of the composers. The Beethoven “Pastorale” Sonata has long, serenely-balanced phrases, while Schumann’s “Fantasiestücke” is expressionist music, communicating his responses to the states suggested by their titles.
In the “Suite Espagnole” by Albeniz, the names of the dances refer to different towns and regions and each is coloured by the heartbeat of the folk music of Spain.
