Lunchtime Concert: Timothy Burrell (baritone)
Timothy Burrell makes his Nelson debut alongside local pianist Pauline Boyd. They will present a wide range of songs by German composer Johannes Brahms, and the song cycle Let Us Garlands Bring composed by British composer Gerald Finzi, with texts taken from various Shakespeare plays.
Baritone Timothy Burrell was born in Auckland, and currently resides in Christchurch. Timothy’s singing journey began when he joined the Auckland Boys Choir at age 9. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music in singing from the University of Waikato in 2012. He then lived in Vienna for two years to further his vocal education. He is currently establishing himself as a recitalist, specialising in German Lieder and British art song. He has presented recitals on Waiheke Island (2019) and in Greymouth (2021) with distinguished collaborative pianist Rosemary Barnes. Recently he presented a recital titled ‘Love songs’ in Christchurch, Greymouth and Queenstown with soprano Claire Filer and pianist Kyle Hsieh. He has recitals in Nelson, Karamea, Greymouth and Auckland in June.
