Lunchtime Concert: Mana Waiariki & Tal Amoore

Mana Waiariki 

Mana has finished her Bachelor of Music majoring in Classical Violin Performance under the tutelage of Helene Pohl of the New Zealand String Quartet at Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music. As well as being a casual player, Mana is starting her trial with Orchestra Wellington in April for a core first violin position.

Mana has also played in the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, and Hawke’s Bay Orchestra. Mana played as a concerto soloist with the Nelson Symphony Orchestra last year as a part of the solo spotlight. Mana has attended the Adam Summer School for 3 years and has performed chamber music concerts around New Zealand.

Mana was chosen to collaborate with Wellington based composer, Michael Norris, to play on a backing track for his piece ‘Waipounamu’ which was commissioned by the 2023 Michael Hill International Violin Competition.

Mana plays on an instrument donated by Karla Mitchell through the Michael Hill Instrument Bank.

Tal Amoore 

Tal Amoore is a charismatic violist, who began his studies at the age of 15. Now in his final year of study at Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music with Gillian Ansell.

Tal is a rostered artist for the Afflatus Ensemble, the Dame Malvina Major foundation, and was a 2022 at the World’s Edge Emerging Artist. Recently Tal has had the pleasure of working with Orchestra Wellington, the Hawkes Bay Symphony Orchestra and the Nelson Symphony Orchestra, along with being the principal violist for the 2023 National Youth Orchestra.

Tal performs on a New Zealand, Malcolm Collins’ viola, labelled “no.12, (1983)”.
