Harmen Vanhoorne with Nelson City Brass
National B Grade Champions, Nelson City Brass is pleased to have world renowned cornet/trumpet virtuoso Harmen Vanhoorne in concert.
At the age of 14 he entered the ‘Kunsthumaniora’ for gifted musicians in Leuven (Belgium). Later on, he studied trumpet and cornet at the renowned Lemmensinstitute in Leuven under Leo Wouters and Leon Petré, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with ‘High Distinction’ as well as a Master’s Degree with ‘Highest Distinction’. He ended his musical studies with a Post-Graduate Master degree with ‘Highest Distinction’.
Harmen first gained notoriety in 2007 when he joined the Trumpet Corps of the Royal Wind Band of the Belgian Guides as the youngest musician ever being granted this position. Since then, his list of achievements includes awards in major solo competitions as well as performing soloist pieces in contests around the world.
Also featuring at this concert will be Nelson City Brass Youth Band. An evening of quality brass music for all the family.
For brass players Harmen will also be presenting an interactive workshop on Wednesday 31 July, 7:00pm also at the NCMA.
