Act I: A young woman’s powerful sung through journey of growth, self-belief and ultimate empowerment featuring songs from Phantom of the opera, Ghost, In the Heights, Mamma Mia!, Wicked and Waitress.
Performed by Sophie McCarlie, lead actress and top soprano of Nelson’s Youth Theatre Company, Act I takes us on a journey through darkness into light, to inspire and empower young women through the gift of song.
Sophie’s acting credits include Cosette in Les Misérables, Molly in the New Zealand Premier of Ghost the Musical, Christine in Phantom of the Opera, and Donna in Mamma Mia!
Act II: features the musical theatre talents of some of youth theatre’s senior performers, Caitlin Brennan, Alex Jensen, Megan Brennan and a special guest, supported by talented accompanist Francis Meria.
Act II includes songs from Mamma Mia!, Dear Evan Hansen, Chicago, Rent, Godspell, The Color Purple, Legally Blonde, Next to Normal and Thoroughly Modern Millie.
The singers in this concert are heading off to university in 2021. From drama and psychology, performance art and design school, we wish them all the absolute best in their various pursuits in their futures!
