From soulful songwriting, foot-tapping Irish, exotic world music and wonderful gypsy jazz, this concert offers something for everyone.
Mosaic is a 40 strong high energy world music a cappella choir. Directed by Shannel Courtney they sing repertoire from around the world with a special focus on African music with its uplifting harmonies and rhythms.
Nathan Torvik and Siobhan Sweeney, otherwise known as Polly and the Minstrel are sought after artists in the Nelson region. Expect wonderfully spacious interpretations of songs from folk to reggae, along with original works.
Gael Force have been performing traditional Irish music for over 30 years. Exciting dance tunes and plaintive airs will be performed by Evey McAuliffe, Bob Bickerton, Barrie McDonald, Brendyn Montgomery and Davy Stuart.
Django Schmango are a highly regarded Hot Club style group of local musicians. The band’s roots are firmly in the music made famous by Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grappelli, a style marked by pristine and dexterous string work, the steady pulse of rhythm guitar and an unmistakable swing that delights audiences of all musical sensibilities. Get your swing on for a crossfire of stunning solos, breathtaking rhythms and constant invention, melded with the gypsy sense of entertainment.
