Skills and expertise
The aim of the Young Voices Choir will be to help young singers embrace performing all types of musical styles. The choir will be given opportunities to perform in public for the benefit of the wider community whilst helping the singers grow in confidence and gain performing experience.
When teaching choir, the key areas taught will be breath control, good posture, phrasing, diction, clear tone, dynamic shading, the ability to harmonise and sing in parts whilst encouraging students to connect emotionally to the repertoire.
Teamwork and having fun are very important. Teaching a healthy vocal technique for choral singing will be a particular focus for developing young voices.
