New Collaboration For Artists & Musicians

Artists from across the region are invited to paint or draw during two lunchtime concerts, held at the Nelson Centre of Musical Arts on Thursday 29thJune and Thursday 4thJuly.

Once registered, artists can set up their easels on the side of the stage, or discreetly tuck themselves into the audience with sketchpads. While the audience enjoys Schubert’s “2 Cellos” String Quintet in C major and /or American Songs and Arias, the artists will be starting their work. Completed paintings will be judged by artist David Ryan and Quiet Dog Gallery owner, Gill Starling. Wall to Wall Art Gallery will display the art works during the month of August.

The project was initiated by writer and artist Michelanne Forster who is also a lover of classical music. “I saw an opportunity to bring together two groups in our community who don’t normally mingle. The idea was to foster creativity synergy and see what happens.” Nicole Russell, the president of Art Group Nelson supported the project from its inception and has invited a wide range of community art groups to participate.

To reserve a space at each concert, artists are asked to pay $15 and complete a registration form at NCMA by Tuesday 25thJune.
